Chiefs goalkeeper helped Fleurs when he needed a lift

Brandon Petersen, the goalkeeper for Kaizer Chiefs, recently recalled a heartwarming moment with the late Luke Fleurs.

Fleurs tragically lost his life in a carjacking incident earlier this month.

Before this devastating loss, Petersen had a chance to come to Fleurs’s rescue.

Fleurs, who had joined Kaizer Chiefs as a free agent and was looking forward to making his professional debut with the team, found himself stranded on his way to training after running out of petrol.

Upon seeing Fleurs’s message for help in a team WhatsApp group, Petersen went to help.

He spoke about how Fleurs, always optimistic and confident, thought he had enough fuel to make it to the petrol station.

Fleurs’s approach to life will be remembered by his friends and family as one where the defender always took risks.

In honour of Fleurs, Kaizer Chiefs have retired the number 26 jersey.
