Matthew Booth is “disappointed and sad that his wife chose to air unfounded allegations on public platforms”.

Matthew Booth has broken his silence on the allegations made by his wife Sonia who said he was cheating on her with an influencer in a statement released on Wednesday.

The ex-Bafana Bafana player said she aired the allegations on all public platforms with an intention to tarnish his name.

“She never discussed them with me and without considering the damage that these allegations will cause especially to our children who are in the middle of their exams,” he said.

On Monday people were left shocked when Sonia took to social media about her husband’s cheating.

Sonia said her husband was cheating with Bongani Mthombeni-Moller.

Bongani had previously been involved in some fitness campaigns with Matthew.

Sonia said she hired a private investigator to investigate the former Mamelodi Sundowns star.

Matthew Booth said he had instructed his attorneys to “vigorously” take the necessary steps to claim the appropriate relief.

“I will leave this to the legal system and let the truth prevail,” he said.

“I would like to appeal to Mrs Mthombeni-Moller, the corporates and sponsors who have partnered with the Booth Trust not to allow this personal matter to deter the good work that’s being done,” he said.

On Tuesday Bongani Mthombeni-Moller deleted her Instagram account due to the backlash.

At the time Sonia threatened to reveal more if provoked.
