- The fight became public after an audio leaked of King Misuzulu insulting Princess Nomkhosi at the KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace.
- The family says the rituals on 21 August will mark the final step in closing the chapter on the royal feud.
The Zulu royal family says it will finally close the chapter on a family feud between King Misuzulu kaZwelithini and his sister Princess Nomkhosi.
Royal family spokesperson Prince Thulani Zulu of the eZibindini Royal House announced on Tuesday that reconciliation rituals will be performed on 21 August.
The move comes months after an audio clip of a heated argument was leaked online. In the recording, the King is heard insulting his sister and telling her to leave his lounge at the KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace.
The dispute was about cattle paid by businessman Moses Tembe as lobola for Princess NoNtandoyesizwe kaZwelithini, as well as a piece of land Princess Nomkhosi claims was left to her by the late Queen Regent Mantfombi kaSobhuza.
Prince Thulani said: “After the unfortunate incident that happened between His Majesty and his siblings including the dragging of the name of his brother-in-law, the family is closing this chapter on Thursday 21 August 2025 by performing the reconciliation rituals. This is the final stage to put the matter to rest.”
The family previously attempted to calm tensions in April when elders stepped in to seek peace.
Soon after the fight, it was reported that former health minister Dr Zweli Mkhize tried to intervene but was blocked from getting involved in the royal feud.
At the time, the King’s office said the audio came from an old argument, but sources close to the family insisted the confrontation happened in March this year.
