Zimbabwe holds Bafana to a goalless draw

Menzi Magubane

Boring Bafana Bafana drew their first 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier match with Zimbabwe. It was Bafana head coach Hugo Broos’s first official match since he took over as Bafana coach in May.

One would give credit to Bafana as a 0-0 draw away is a point gained.

But drawing against Zimbabwe could be problematic for Bafana especially with a game against Ghana scheduled for Monday.

Yes they will be playing at home but with their unconvincing performance on Friday, Ghana could fancy their chances.

Broos will ask tough questions of his charges after missing so many scoring chances.

A point away is a good result but local soccer fans won’t be happy with Bafana’s performance.

A home game could be an encouragement for Bafana but their last encounter against Ghana in March could give Broos sleepless nights.

That game ended in a stalemate but Ghana are now much stronger and are favourites to win Group G.
