As Donald Trump was making history by being the first American President to be impeached TWICE, Melusi’s Everyday Zulu’s Facebook page took a slightly different tack.
They noted that the obese “leader of the free world” was the colour of a ripe ipentshisi – peach in Zulu – already.
The author wrote that due to ignorance of American politics “I thought Trump being impeached for the 2nd time meant he is getting another coat of the spray that makes him the same colour as a ripe ipentshisi.”
Trump’s impeachment broke another record – it was the most bipartisan impeachment vote in American history. Trump’s Republican Party and the winning Democrats have been at each other’s throats for years. But 10 Republican congressmen joined the Democrats for a 232 to 197 vote.
The US Congress voted on Wednesday to charge him with “high crimes and misdemeanours” for stirring up a mob of protestors who stormed the Capitol last week. The trial in the upper house, or Senate, will probably happen after he leaves office on January 20th.
The Democratic Party’s Joe Biden is due to be inaugurated that day.
Thereafter, Trump might be seeing more orange in his life: he could be wearing an orange jumpsuit in prison.
Talk is he has been thinking of pardoning himself in advance for federal crimes committed while in office.
But even if he pulled that off, state courts could still send him to jail for fraud or tax evasion.
