Seasoned actor Patrick Shai has apologised for the vulgar language he used to refer to the mother of Cassper Nyovest, but stands by his challenge to fight the SA music star.
The actor, known for roles in Soul City and Generations, offered a heartfelt apology in a video posted on Tuesday:
“My apologies, I humbly, from the bottom of my heart, apologise for having used such strong language towards your mom,” said Shai.
This is a far cry from the language used by the celebrated actor a day earlier on Monday, when he challenged Cassper to a fight in the boxing ring.
In the video Shai said he wants to “bleksem” Cassper until the musician soils his pants.
“This is my dying wish: I want to bleksem you, my boy,” he warned.
“I want the title to be engraved on my tombstone,” he continued.
After trash-talking Cassper, Shai goes on to insult Cassper’s mother and unleash some derogatory words.
Shai apologises “profusely” for this in his followup video.
“The last sentence messed up a good thing that I wanted to achieve and I am gravely sorry for the choice of words.
“I wanted to use the video to garner support for the work I do in GBV, I had good intentions but the good intention was clouded by the vulgar language. I apologise profusely,” he said.
However, he did not apologise for challenging the musician to a fight and said in his apology that “the challenge would’ve been an ideal thing.”
While it is unclear exactly why Shai wishes to fight Cassper, his challenge was made in the wake of a challenge made by Cassper himself to fight controversial YouTuber Slik Talk.
Cassper was less than impressed by the actor’s apology.
“These are some weird times yo. When everyone runs out of ideas to trend they just think ‘Cassper Nyovest,’” he wrote on Twitter.
