Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of Babita Deokaran.
Police Minister Bheki Cele has confirmed that the suspects were found with cash and firearms in their vehicles.
Deokaran, a senior financial official for the Gauteng Department of Health was a witness in the investigation into the case about personal protection equipment (PPE) that rocked the province last year.
She was gunned down outside her home in Johannesburg on 23 August moments after dropping her child at school.
Police believe her murder was a targeted assassination relating to her involvement in the PPE investigation.
The latest arrests brings the total number of people taken in by the police in connection with the murder to nine.
Seven men were arrested last week for the murder, six of whom appeared in court after one was released due to lack of evidence.
Police Minister Cele was visiting KwaMashu in KZN when he made the announcement. The minister visited the township after 11 people were killed in two mass shootings this week.
