The law of masks

If you don’t wear a mask in a shop or taxi, you won’t be fined for now…

But under the new Covid rules, the owners could be prosecuted and fined.

Justice Minister Ronald Lamola said this week “The responsibility is on the compliance officers, the taxi driver or a person who is running a retail shop or …any facility where people can gather”.

Lamola said the law could be changed later to make individuals liable too “if there is still non-compliance”.

Countries that made masks compulsory have generally done much better at controlling the virus.
