Spurs gunned down in North London Derby

North London is red — England is red. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal won away at Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League for the first time since he captained the side to victory over eight years ago.

It was a tale of two keepers, with Spurs shot-stopper Hugo Lloris palming Bukayo Saka’s cross into his own net while Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale produced a man-of-the-match performance.

Lloris’s disastrous own goal summed up Spurs’s first half performance; error-ridden, second best and full of panic.

Surprisingly, it was his first ever in his 354-game Premier League career, and it came at the worst possible time in the biggest possible game.

Gunners captain Martin Odegaard made it two before the break, with a stunning left-footed strike to put Arsenal firmly in control.

Spurs sprung to life in the second half, finally turning up in the game to test Ramsdale in the Gunners goal.

A few chances from Harry Kane were kept out and Arsenal proved their quality in defence by keeping the clean sheet in-tact and their title challenge very much alive.

Arsenal are now eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table. Arteta’s side take on in-form Manchester United next up while City and Spurs collide at the Etihad.
