Soshanguve’s sky-high sermons

By Rorisang Modiba

A pastor in Soshanguve has turned an old aeroplane into a travelling stage to share the gospel.

He said he had bought the plane to spread the word of God, while some people who had seen the plane in his yard in the streets of Soshanguve, thought he was a gangster who had stolen it.

Pastor Joseph Davhula runs the Back to Christ Church saw the plane for sale on Facebook Marketplace.

Police confirmed to Scrolla.Africa on Tuesday that the plane was not stolen.

“I decided to check it out. Mr Loggenberg from East Lynne showed it to me, and I bought it,” he told the Citizen

After buying the plane, Davhula prayed about it and had a vision to transform the plane into a stage to share the gospel with people on the streets.

He wanted to use something eye-catching to get people’s attention for a good cause.

“It’s now a half-plane as it has been converted into a trailer as a caravan for now. It’s a real plane. It used to fly,” he said.

Before dedicating himself to the church, Davhula was a businessman. He shared that he never imagined he would become a pastor or own a plane.

Resident Arabang Mofundo said he loved the pastor with his plane.

“I saw them singing and praising there at Soshanguve Crossing and it was amazing,” he said.

“The pastor’s idea had the potential to fly. Soshanguve is the best hood. You will not find this elsewhere.”
