Slot’s Reds set for Wembley

Liverpool came back from their one goal Carabao Cup semi-final first leg deficit with a thumping 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Thursday.

On what was a torrid night for Tottenham, the Reds kept nearly 75 percent of the ball and prevented their visitors from registering even a single attempt on target.

Cody Gakpo opened the scoring to level the aggregate scoreline just after the half hour mark; and shortly after the break, Mohamed Salah would give Liverpool the advantage.

Dominik Szoboszlai sealed the deal when he curled an effort past the keeper to make it three and captain Virgil van Dijk made it four with a rising header to put the icing on the cake.

Liverpool will play in their 15th League Cup final and Arne Slot’s first campaign in charge will feature a trip to Wembley.

The Reds’ opponents, Newcastle United, earned their place with a convincing win over the Gunners.

After shocking Arsenal at the Emirates last month, the Magpies got the job done by the same scoreline on Wednesday to mark a colossal 4-0 aggregate win over Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Carabao Cup final is scheduled for mid-March.
