SAHRC takes Nota to court over racist comments

The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) is taking Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi to court for hate speech after his comments about white people on YouTube.

Speaking on The Hustlers Corner SA podcast on 17 February 2025, Nota made several racist statements.

“White people are inferior species to us,” he said. “They have Neanderthal blood in them… We are dealing with the weakest whites… White people are just below human beings.”

The commission started looking into the case after receiving many complaints from across the country through its Gauteng office.

After assessing the comments against South Africa’s equality laws, the SAHRC found sufficient evidence to take Nota to court.

The commission wants Nota to make a public apology, attend diversity training, perform community service and pay a fine.

People can also open criminal cases against him at their local police stations.

This is not Nota’s first issue with the law. In November last year, he was jailed for 60 days after he ignored a court order telling him to stop accusing rapper K.O. of being involved in AKA’s murder.

He was arrested at the Randburg court while attending another case.

Nota also faced rape charges from actress Itumeleng Bokaba. He handed himself over to police in October and spent a weekend in jail before being released on R5,000 bail.

The court ordered police to take him to Leeuwkop Prison or another jail in Gauteng.
