Queen Nozizwe Mulelo, the second wife of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, was seen supporting the king at a royal ceremony on Monday.

She attended uMkhosi woSelwa, also known as the First Fruit Sacred Ritual, at Mashobeni Royal Palace.

Queen Nozizwe was seated with other members of the Zulu royal family. These included Princess Sinethemba, Queen Mother Sibongile maDlamini of kwaKhethomthandayo Royal Palace and Queen Masesi kaMyeni of Mashobeni Royal Palace.

The ceremony marked the third day of the king’s seclusion, which began on 16 December 2025. The king was expected to address the regiments during the ritual.

Queen Nozizwe mainly lives in Eswatini, where she is the managing director of the Eswatini Development and Savings Bank.

She often travels to South Africa to attend royal duties while continuing her work in Eswatini.

Queen Nozizwe has recently been seen again at major royal events. She attended the Reed Dance at Mashobeni Royal Palace last year.

She also represented the Zulu royal family at the wedding of maskandi artist Khuzani Mpungose in Howick in December.

Unlike the other wives of King Misuzulu, Queen Nozizwe does not have a palace. The king’s other wives, including his fiancée Princess Sihle Mdluli of the Mawewe Kingdom, have palaces.

At the time of publication, King Misuzulu had not yet addressed the ceremony.

The First Fruit Sacred Ritual focuses on tradition and the grooming of young men. Strict rules apply, including no alcohol and no photography inside the kraal.

Because of these rules, the ceremony is rarely covered by the media.
