Premier League finale: Arsenal crowned, Anfield says goodbye, Guardiola bows out

By Razeen Gutta

Arsenal officially lifted the Premier League trophy on Sunday after a 2-1 win at Crystal Palace, sealing their first title in 22 years.

Gabriel Jesus opened the scoring before Noni Madueke volleyed in a second, with Mikel Arteta’s side finishing seven points clear of Manchester City.

Captain Martin Odegaard raised the silverware as red confetti filled Selhurst Park, ahead of a north London parade on May 31.

The Gunners now turn to the Champions League final against PSG on 30 May.

Elsewhere, Anfield bid an emotional farewell to Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson after a 1-1 draw with Brentford.

Salah, Liverpool’s third all-time top scorer with 257 goals, leaves after nine years, two league titles and a Champions League.

“I cried more than in my whole life,” he said, while Robertson insisted Anfield will “always be home.”

At the Etihad, Pep Guardiola ended his decade in charge as City lost 2-1 to Aston Villa.

Tributes poured in for the Catalan, who delivered 20 trophies including six league titles.

Bernardo Silva and John Stones also said goodbye, with Guardiola telling fans: “It has been an incredible, tremendous honour.”

Tottenham Hotspur sealed their survival with a 1-0 win at home to Everton, with West Ham’s 3-0 victory over Leeds not enough to keep the Hammers from getting relegated alongside Wolves and Burnley.
