KZN news bites: Pharmacist gunned down just one week after opening her doors

KwaNyuswa: The Democratic Alliance in West Durban has strongly condemned the brutal killing of a young pharmacist, her cashier, and a security officer.

Nomzila Madinane was shot dead on Tuesday afternoon by unknown men. This happened just one week after she opened her pharmacy near Hillcrest.

Marlaine Nair of the DA said the community is in deep pain. The pharmacy was built to bring vital healthcare closer to local people.

Nair said a place of hope has now become a reminder of how violent crime destroys lives.

Ukhahlamba: KZN Premier Thami Ntuli officially opened the Vimbukhalo Water Supply Project at the Vimbukhalo Sports Field on Thursday.

The project will give clean and reliable water to more than 3,500 homes. This rural area has faced a severe water crisis that caused community protests.

Premier Ntuli said the new pipelines bring hope. They will create local jobs and improve the daily quality of life for residents.

Chatsworth: Police arrested a suspect for dealing drugs and holding illegal ammunition on Thursday.

The Drugs and Firearms Unit worked with a K9 partner after receiving a tip. They searched a property and found rock cocaine and mandrax tablets.

The drugs are worth an estimated 220,000 Rand. Police also found four rounds of ammunition and 4,000 Rand in cash.

The money is believed to come from crime. The suspect will appear in court soon to face charges.
