The fight between learners over girlfriends at Sihlahlasenkosi High School is far from over.
On Tuesday, concerned parents, who were camping outside the school to guard their children, had to run for their lives as the fight broke out again at the rural school based in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal.
Parents ran in different directions as chaos ensued.
Public order police had to be called to break up the fight and hammers, knives, sticks, knobkerries and machetes were confiscated from some learners.
The fight occurred while the school was hosting a career guidance programme, presented by the Sinothando Youth Foundation.
The programme, assisting learners to apply to institutions of higher learning, had to be called off.
Scrolla.Africa understands that this time the fight was started after learners spotted their former schoolmates, who are now going to Tholukukhanya High, attending the programme.
Even police are fed up and they no longer have any plan on how to deal with this violence, since it involves kids.
Phohloza Zungu of the Sinothando Youth Foundation told Scrolla.Africa that they had to call police to come and deal with the situation.
“This is a serious crisis and something needs to be done soon,” said Zungu. “While we were busy in a hall we heard parents screaming outside, trying to run away. Those kids need to be arrested because we can’t have a situation like this.”
Some of the kids who were causing violence at Sihlahlasenkosi had been expelled from Tholukukhanya High for their misbehaviour.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Lt Colonel Nqobile Gwala confirmed the incident where students were involved in a fight. The police found knives, hammers, and sticks. No case was opened.
