Music promoter and events organiser Sam Mhangwani claims that three prominent musicians received money to perform at one of his events four years ago but never pitched.

He allegedly paid Sjava, Amanda Black and Black Motion a sum of R237,000 in total to perform at the Moretele Tribute Concert .

“Every year between September and November, I host the concert and I normally invite big artists to come. I booked these artists on different occasions and paid full amounts, but they chose not to come and perform,” Mhangwani told Scrolla.Africa.

According to the Daily Sun, Mhangwani has proof of payments for each artist. Black Motion was paid a sum of R60 000 in November, a payment of R110 000 was made to Sjava and Amanda Black received R67,000 between 2017 and 2018.

“I have done everything to get my money back, but they are not taking my calls; they are not even responding to my messages,” he said.

Mhangwani added, “I am aggrieved because they took advantage of me, and I want to warn promoters to be careful before booking these artists.”

Black Motion’s manager Tshiamo Kodisang told Scrolla.Africa that they will be contacting their lawyers regarding the accusations.

“I know nothing about this booking. I am contacting my lawyers to sort out this issue,” Kodisang said.

Amanda Black stated that she does not owe Mhangwani anything. “I arrived at the event, and he failed to comply with my contract. I don’t understand why he is still talking about this.”

Ambitiouz Entertainment, the record company that Sjava is signed to, were not available for comment.
