The country’s biggest metropolitan municipalities could stay on maximum lockdown after Friday 1 May.
When the new, less tough rules start, Johannesburg, Cape Town, eThekwini and the metropolitan areas of Buffalo City and Mangaung could stay at level 5. These cities have had about 75% of the Covid-19 cases so far.
Everywhere else in SA would be level 4, according to News 24, which saw the documents.
This means cigarettes – and some other goods – go on sale, some businesses open, some exercise is allowed, and public transport hours relaxed.
According to News24 no final decisions have yet been made about which areas of the country will remain on full lockdown.
