More deaths as shooter kills four at American hospital

Four civilians were killed in another shooting spree, at a hospital in Oklahoma, United States, on Wednesday afternoon.

Multiple injuries were reported in addition to the four confirmed dead.

Officers at the scene revealed that the suspected shooter was found dead, armed with a rifle and a handgun.

Deputy police chief Eric Dalgleish said the suspect has not yet been identified but that he took a fatal gunshot that is believed to be self-inflicted.

The motive behind the shooting has not yet been revealed, but Tulsa Police Department Captain Richard Meulenberg said the incident was too specific to be a random shooting.

“He very purposefully went to this location, went to a specific floor, and shot with a specific purpose,” he said.

“This was not a random shooting.”

Deputy Dalgleish said the force received a call regarding a shooting at 4.52pm local time and the police arrived on the scene three minutes later.

“The officers heard shots in the building which directed them to the second floor,” he said.

The police are interviewing witnesses to gather further information regarding the incident.

United States President Joe Biden has been briefed on the incident, the White House said in a statement.

This incident follows a mass shooting in Texas last week where 19 children and two teachers were killed.

Earlier this month 10 people were killed at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York in what was described as a racial attack.

A concerned patient said although shootings are common in America, it is hard to imagine it happening in front of your eyes.

“You can’t go to a store, you can’t go to a school, and now you can’t go to the doctor!” the patient told KTUL.
