Millions of minks face slaughter to stop mutant coronavirus

Denmark is planning to kill its population of at least 15 million minks after a new mutant coronavirus was found in the animals.

Scientists fear the virus spinoff found in minks could jump to humans, and ruin the chances of a vaccine against Covid-19.

According to the Guardian, Prof Allan Randrup Thomsen, a virologist at the University of Copenhagen, has suggested shutting down northern Denmark because of the risks from mink farms.
