On 2 May Manchester United fans disrupted the match against Liverpool leading to the tie being called off, and now they’re planning on doing it again for the rescheduled fixture on 13 May.
“Every United fan has seen the power they collectively hold. Last Sunday’s protests need to be a beginning, not an end,” said a letter sent to the Manchester Evening News.
“The Premier League and the Glazers are terrified the Liverpool fixture could be affected again. It’s our responsibility to make sure it is.”
The fans are planning a second protest against the Glazer family ownership before their rescheduled fixture against Liverpool on Thursday.
A protest on 2 May saw fans of the club break into Old Trafford and enter the team dressing rooms, forcing the Premier League to postpone the fixture.
The protest of the Glazer ownership over the Red Devils began back in 2005 when the family gained the majority shareholding over the club, but the protest before the Liverpool game was the biggest display yet.
The protestors disagree with the Glazers’ financially focused approach, with many fans believing the owner has no consideration of the fans of the club.
Manchester United are in the middle of a busy schedule that sees them playing three games in just five days. The side were victorious over Aston Villa on Sunday and now face Leicester on Tuesday night before the tie against Liverpool on Thursday night.
