Man who wins jackpot hopes to get his wife back too

Earlier this year, his wife left him because he “did not have enough money”. But months later he won R8 million in the Powerball Plus lottery. Now he fancies his chances of winning her back.

The man from Pretoria bought his winning ticket from Brazil Café in Pretoria North for just R22.50.

“I feel like I’m in a dream, I can’t believe this is happening to me. I have no words to express my happiness, it has been such an emotionally draining year,” said the man, who chose to remain anonymous.

His wife left him earlier in the year because he could not support her and their children financially, he told IOL.

“I want my wife back, so I can rebuild my life with her and our kids and have our dream home.”

He will also purchase a house for his parents, pay off his debts and buy a brand new car. He will save the rest for his children’s tertiary education.

Ithuba, a National Lottery operator, told IOL that the man collected his jackpot prize from the 10 August draw.

His winning numbers were 3, 12, 17, 37, 38, and the PowerBall 17.
