- A man was filmed running over Emmanuel Mahamba multiple times in Rivonia before fleeing the scene.
- Police are following leads but the suspect, who had a long-running fight with Mahamba, has not been found.
A man who was caught on video driving over Emmanuel Mahamba in Johannesburg is still on the run.
In the footage, a black Ford Ranger is seen driving over Mahamba several times at the corner of Autumn and 12th Avenue in Rivonia. Onlookers stood by as the vehicle’s wheels rolled over his body while he was still alive.
Paramedics declared Mahamba dead at the scene.
It’s believed the two men were involved in a long-standing fight over a woman. Mahamba was said to be in a relationship with a woman who was also seeing the driver.
The feud is reported to have dragged on for months, with threats made against Mahamba’s life.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said police have opened a case of murder.
“No one has been arrested yet and all the leads to trace the suspects are being followed,” she said.
“Sandton police received a complaint about an accident. When they arrived, they found a man lying on the side of the road with injuries all over his body.”
She urged anyone with information that could help track down the suspect to contact the crime stop line at 08600 10111.
Mahamba, who was from Zimbabwe, was married and had one child.
