L’VOVO REVEALS ALL ABOUT TERRIFYING BRUSH WITH DEATH

By Linda Ximba

Kwaito star L’vovo Derango believes his life-threatening stroke was because he didn’t take his medication, he didn’t eat properly and he didn’t get enough rest.

The “Bayang’sukela” hitmaker, real name Thokozani Ndlovu, caused a frenzy on social media when he was rushed to hospital after failing to finish his performance at the Ndwedwe Music Festival on 23 December.

Mampintsha, L’vovo’s fellow member of Big Nuz, was also taken away to the hospital for a similar illness at the same time.

Unfortunately Mampintsha, real name Mandla Mampuntshulo, passed away two days later after being hospitalised. Mampintsha was laid to rest this past Saturday.

Speaking to Scrolla.Africa, L’vovo gave insight into his health.

“I have high blood pressure and I haven’t been taking my medication as prescribed,” he said.

“Another factor that I think contributed to my stroke is that I have been eating junk food because I am forever on the road attending gigs. Fatigue took its toll on my body.”

He said he plans to be more careful about what he eats, including taking it easy on excessive alcohol drinking.

Reflecting on the time he spent with Mampintsha, L’vovo says he is hurt about the passing and he feels cheated.

“He cheated me because I went to visit him on Thursday in hospital and he promised he would come out to promote the Big Nuz single “Ngeke” which fortunately won Ukhozi FM Song of The Year.

“By the time I was discharged on Saturday, he was being laid to rest and unfortunately I could not make it to say my goodbyes,” says L’vovo.

Besides music, L’vovo has dabbled in acting gigs, notably Uzalo and eHostela.
