Mashobeni Royal Palace: DA Federal Leader Geordin Hill-Lewis has described his courtesy visit to King Misuzulu kaZwelithini as a sign of deep respect for the Zulu nation.

Hill-Lewis visited His Majesty at eMashobeni Royal Palace in Pongola, north of KZN, on Tuesday. He was accompanied by DA National Chairperson Solly Msimanga, DA Leader in KwaZulu-Natal Sithembiso Ngema, and DA Provincial Chairperson Dean Macpherson, to affirm the DA’s respect for the institution of traditional leadership and its important role in the lives of millions of South Africans.

“It was an honour to give my respects to the Zulu Nation, one of the great cultural communities of our country, of Africa and indeed the world. The story of the Zulu Nation is one of pride, courage and deep history. For generations, Zulu culture, language and customs have given millions of people a deep sense of identity and belonging. That heritage is something to be celebrated and protected. Our message to the Zulu Nation is that the greatest tribute we can pay to the generations who came before us is not only to preserve their legacy, but to build a future of prosperity, work and safety for all,” said Hill-Lewis.

Eshowe: IFP President Velenkosini Hlabisa is set to visit Eshowe on Sunday to drum up support for the party ahead of the November local government elections.

He is expected to outline the party’s vision for local governance, mobilise communities ahead of the elections, and encourage eligible voters to register and participate in the democratic process. The rally forms part of the IFP’s nationwide voter mobilisation campaign aimed at consolidating support and strengthening community engagement across KwaZulu-Natal and beyond.

KwaNdengezi: Police have discovered that one of the three security guards caught on video harassing an e-hailing driver in KwaNdengezi, west of Durban, is on parole.

MEC for Transport and Human Settlements Siboniso Duma revealed this on Tuesday.

“The most disturbing information from some community members is that out of the three security guards, one is on parole and another has just finished parole. Clearly, this will be considered a parole violation, which may lead to its cancellation. The three security guards, who are still in detention, will appear in the Pinetown Magistrates Court this Friday, 12 June 2026,” said Duma.
