Inyosi Buzetsheni Mdletshe, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini’s praise singer and Zulu royal family historian, has hit back at detractors who claim he is unjustly asserting authority over a portion of land at KwaCeza near Ulundi.
Mdletshe says their campaign is laced with poisonous politics to smear him.
He was responding to claims by some members of the Ndebele clan, who also claim authority over the area.
The clan made this claim outside the Mahlabathini Magistrate’s Court last week.
However, Mdletshe, who was travelling with the King, could not be reached for comment when the Ndebele clan circulated their videos with the claim.
The Ndebele clan asked the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government to intervene and stop Mdletshe and others from “grabbing” their land.
Today, Mdletshe sent Scrolla.Africa documents to prove that the late King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu gave him authority over the disputed area.
In a letter dated 19 July 2007, the late King’s office informed the then department of traditional affairs and local government in Mahlabathini of the decision.
According to the letter, the late King installed Mdletshe on 22 June 2003, and it was cited that the area historically belonged to the Mdletshes.
“It is known history that this area has always been under the Mdletshes from the time of Mavukafile to Kukudlakudelwa Sombila, who is the father of Mkhohliseni Buzetsheni Mdletshe [whom] the king is giving [it] to now,” reads one of the three letters produced by Mdletshe to back up his claims.
At some point in 2016, the Ndebele clan wrote to the Osuthu Traditional Council, which oversees several Zulu royal family palaces, to complain about Mdletshe.
The council responded on 11 October 2016 and alerted the Ndebele clan that, based on historical facts, the late King Zwelithini rightfully made Mdletshe the induna of the area.
Ngcebo Zulu, the induna from the Ndebele clan, could not be reached for comment following Mdletshe’s counterclaims because he did not answer his phone.
