Rapper Emtee is out on R1,000 bail after spending a night in police cells. The musician, whose real name is Mthebeni Ndevu, appeared in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Police locked up Emtee after he allegedly broke a protection order. His estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy, got the protection order against him in 2023.
Emtee handed himself over to the police on Wednesday. He spent the night at the Midrand Police Station before going to court on Thursday.
The court gave Emtee strict rules to get bail. The rapper must not post or publish anything about Chinsamy on social media. This includes direct and indirect posts.
The court ordered Emtee not to talk to Chinsamy. He must also remove all existing posts about her from his pages.
The court case follows several claims that Emtee made against Chinsamy on social media. The rapper posted on Instagram and claimed that she assaulted him.
“I get beaten up by Nicole Kendall Chinsamy multiple times,” Emtee said. He said he believed many people would not take his claims seriously.
Emtee also claimed that Chinsamy wanted him dead. “She wants me killed cos I caught her. I need help,” he said. The case will continue in court.
