Amapiano musicians, Killer Kau and Mpura, have died after a car crash on Monday morning.
According to their close friends and fellow musicians, Kabza De Small and Lady Du, Killer Kau and Mpura were on their way to a gig in the North West when the accident happened.
Killer Kau and Mpura’s family and their record label are yet to confirm the death of the two artists but The Southern African Music Rights Organisation has shared a tribute message to the fallen music duo.
When the news of the crash started trending, fans started speculating that Kabza De Small was spotted hanging out with them the night before and that he could also be dead, but the DJ quickly confirmed on social media that he was alive.
Killer Kau (real name Sakhile Hlatshwayo) became an overnight sensation in 2017 after posting a video singing Tholukuti, which is considered to be the very first recognizable Amapiano hit song in SA.
The Soweto born musician and dancer grew up singing in church before he joined the Stay PC church choir singing baritone and went on to join the African Heavenly Soul Singers male choir.
Killer Kau completed his high school at Lavela Secondary school in Zola. At the time of his death, he was working on his music but his ambition was to get a Law degree.
Fellow artists and fans have already started sharing their condolence messages.
All Scrolla.Africa’s calls and texts to try and get comments from the management of Killer Kau and Mpura at Feel Good Music were unsuccessful.
This is a developing story.
