- Minnie Dlamini is suing Sol Phenduka and MacG for R2.5-million, accusing them of hate speech, discrimination and harassment on their podcast.
- Kaya 959 says Phenduka is off air with immediate effect, as the station decides whether to dismiss him from his breakfast show role.
Kaya 959 announced on Wednesday that Sol Phenduka has been suspended from his breakfast show duties, pending an internal process. The station did not give details, but sources said the suspension is linked to Minnie Dlamini’s Equality Court case.
Dlamini has accused Phenduka and his podcast co-host MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho of making repeated misogynistic comments about her on Podcast & Chill.

Court papers allege they joked about her marriage ending for financial reasons and suggested she exchanged sexual favours for money. In one episode, MacG said Dlamini could not keep a man because of a “bad smell” from her private parts, and Phenduka joined in the conversation.
Dlamini is suing for R1-million in damages and a further R1.5-million to be paid to the non-profit Women for Change. She has also demanded a public, court-approved apology, rejecting MacG’s earlier attempt at saying sorry as “insincere”.

She argues that the remarks violated her dignity and spread harmful stereotypes that normalise gender-based violence.
Kaya 959 sources said management feared the lawsuit would damage the station’s reputation. Phenduka has been told to make written submissions explaining why he should not be dismissed.
