Orlando Pirates are just one win away from progressing to the quarter-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
On Sunday, the Buccaneers cruised past Al Ahli Benghazi of Libya with an impressive 3-0 win at Orlando Stadium to top Group A with eight points after four matches.
Their next match will be at the same venue against bottom of the group ES Setif.
Pirates and Setif played to a goalless draw in March.
On Sunday, Group A was cracked wide open by Setif’s 3-0 win over second place Enyimba of Nigeria.
The win saw the Algerians draw level with Al Ahli both with four points while the Nigerians have six points.
Bucs goal scorer Tshegofatso Mabaso said they were a bit disappointed last week when they drew with Al Ahli in Libya.
“But I’m happy we managed to rectify that with a win here at home,” said Mabaso.
“To play for Pirates is a huge honour for me. Whenever I’m given an opportunity to play I always make sure that I play for the badge and also try to help the team to be great again. Being on the score sheet is even bigger.”
This win will certainly boost Pirates ahead of their Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash against wounded Mamelodi Sundowns this Thursday.
The much anticipated encounter will be held at Loftus Stadium, Tshwane at 6pm.
The winner will host Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in the second semi-final on Sunday.
