What started as a dream relationship has become a “hell” for Laizy Ramokone, a businesswoman from Pretoria and mother of two, who dated Zimbabwean businessman Trevor Simbarashe Mbizvo, popularly known as the “Hell Commander.”
In her upcoming book, Love, Ego and Hitman, Ramokone reveals the harrowing details of their relationship, including multiple court battles and a brutal shooting incident.
Ramokone said her life took a dark turn on 22 November 2022, after yet another court battle with Mbizvo.
She said in her book that on her way home from court, she was ambushed in a drive-by shooting on the Ben Schoeman Highway in Pretoria.
“At first, I thought it was a tyre burst. But I realised I was the target of gunfire and believed that my ex-boyfriend was responsible.”
She said she was hit four times, with one bullet causing damage close to her brain, but luckily, bystanders came to her aid.
While in hospital, she said her attackers hacked her phone and sent messages to her at odd hours. But even after she recovered and returned home, the harassment continued.
Ramokone describes ongoing surveillance and death threats from Mbizvo, who allegedly even rented a house nearby using fake documents to monitor her movements.
She recounts seeing drones over her property and even “fake police officers” monitoring her.
Ramokone’s book, scheduled for release in February 2025, details these incidents, including Mbizvo’s alleged threats that she “will not see the verdict of the case”.
She said despite the trauma, she continues to pursue her court case against him and has been out of the country for a year, separated from her children and family.
The two are still embroiled in another court battle. Trevor has been charged with rape and fraud, as widely reported this week. He is set to appear at the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on 7 November.
