A desperate mother is fighting for justice after three young bullies at Geluksdal Primary School Two assaulted her Grade 3 daughter by forcing objects into her private parts.

The attack left the little girl in terrible pain and unable to go to the toilet, landing her in hospital for a week.

The victim’s mother, who cannot be named to protect her child, said three learners, two boys and a girl, used a stick to push a string and black plastic into her daughter’s bottom.

When her daughter came home from school, she complained about pain in her behind.

“When I checked her, a thread-like piece of material came out and a black sheet. She was in pain, struggling to sit down. I immediately rushed her to the local clinic, where they looked at her and sent her to Pholosong Hospital for more treatment. She was in hospital for a week where parts of the objects were removed,” she said.

The victim says the girl learner has been bullying and teasing her about her eyes for some time, and would poke them.

The mother said that when she reported the matter to the school principal, she was asked why the learner failed to tell her teacher on the day.

“I was asked why she didn’t scream during the incident, instead of the school starting an investigation into the matter. My daughter is hurt badly. She now struggles with nightmares, keeps to herself and barely speaks and refuses to go back to school.

“We tried to get her counselling from the local clinic, but they gave her a date for August, and the department of education has not offered her any,” said the mother.

The mother tried to open a criminal case at Tsakani Police Station, but police only wrote down the matter as the suspects are minors.

“All I want is for the learners responsible to be held accountable and for the school to deal with bullying, as there have been other cases before,” she said.

Attempts to get comment from the Gauteng Department of Education were not successful.
