It was a big battle at the top of the log as Arsenal and Newcastle United were inseparable at the Emirates while Manchester United and Brighton got big wins elsewhere.
The Gunners widened their gap at the summit to eight points over Manchester City, but it may have been even more with Newcastle holding on to stay in third place.
Mikel Arteta’s side played well in the first half and dominated the ball throughout the game, testing Nick Pope and Newcastle at the back on multiple occasions.
The Geordies had just a single attempt on target all evening and will probably be the happier side as they take a point into a good fixture run which includes a home game against Fulham before a trip to Bournemouth next up in the league.
On Merseyside, Everton were blown away by a Brighton side that turned up tremendously in the third quarter of the game.
Goals from Evan Ferguson, Solly March and Pascal Groß within a six minute spell added to Kaoru Mitoma’s early finish to give the visitors a 4-1 win at Goodison Park.
At the King Power, an early Aleksandar Mitrovic goal was enough to help Fulham beat Leicester 1-0 — sending them up into seventh place, level on points with Liverpool.
In the late game, Manchester United blew away Bournemouth at Old Trafford. Casemiro, Luke Shaw and Marcus Rashford all scored in a dominant 3-0 win for Erik Ten Hag’s side.
On Wednesday Leeds face West Ham while Nottingham Forest travel to Southampton and Aston Villa host Wolves, before Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur face off in the late game.
