Ghana cases jump after lockdown lifted

Ghana was the first African country to ease its lockdown. But there has been a big increase in cases of Covid-19 since then.

  • The lockdown was lifted on April 20th – businesses went back to work in the main cities.
  • There were 1042 cases then – and nine deaths. On Sunday there were 2169 cases – and 18 deaths.
  • The numbers might back the case for longer lockdowns – as all governments battle to balance dealing with the virus, and preventing mass job losses.
