Carlos Alcaraz blew Novak Djokovic away in straight sets to win back-to-back Wimbledon titles on Sunday.
While the 21-year-old’s journey may have only really just begun, Alcaraz has been lighting quick at reaching incredible milestones and breaking long standing records.
The latest of the Spaniard’s achievements came with an incredible 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (4) win over the same legendary opponent he got one over in last year’s edition of the showpiece event.
Alcaraz was quick in pursuit of his victory, preventing the 37-year-old Djokovic from winning a record-equalling eighth Wimbledon men’s title.
His win also means that he now has four Grand Slams and a perfect record in major finals. But the Spaniard still believes there is more to do.
“I really want to keep going, to keep improving, to keep growing up, try to keep winning. That’s all that matters for me right now. I want to sit at the same table as the big guys. That’s my main goal. That’s my dream right now,” he told reporters.
“So let’s see if at the end of my career it’s going to be 25, 30, 15, four (Slams). I don’t know. All I want to say is I want to keep enjoying and let’s see what the future brings to me.”
The football fan in Alcaraz added post-match that he was looking forward to seeing his country put one over England in the Euro 2024 final.
And that was indeed the case, as Spain ensured a double celebration would be the order of the day following their 2-1 win over Gareth Southgate’s troops.
