France dealt viral blow

By Razeen Gutta

Five members of France’s Fifa World Cup squad are reportedly out with a virus. Social distancing measures have now been put in place within the camp to prevent any further illness.

Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot already missed out on the starting 11 in the semi-final against Morocco; and GOAL has now reported that Raphael Varane, Kingsley Coman and Ibrahima Konate have also fallen sick.

The news comes just two days before the ultimate test that is the World Cup final clash against Argentina, with Didier Deschamps’ side hoping to defend their World Cup crown.

The France boss initially blamed the continued use of air conditioning inside stadiums in Qatar for the illnesses contracted, and multiple reports have stated that players have been advised to use sanitiser and practise social distancing to avoid getting infected.

To make matters worse for the European giants, Aurelien Tchouameni and Theo Hernandez were also reported to have picked up training injuries; and although the status of their fitness is not known, France would not want to add to the problems already at hand.
