Four for Palmer as toffees get hit for six!

It was the Cole Palmer show as Chelsea thumped Everton 6-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night football.

The Blues were ruthless from the onset; and it was their top scorer that held the whole game in the palm of his hand.

Just 18 minutes into the action in London, and the 21-year-old had already put the hosts two goals to the good.

Before the half hour mark, his perfect hatrick was complete; and cometh the hour, he became the fifth youngest player to score four plus goals in a single Premier League game.

The Englishman also became the first Chelsea player to net four plus times in a single league game since the legendary Frank Lampard did it 14 years ago.

In a week that will see Mauricio Pochettino’s men make a trip to Wembley to face Manchester City in the FA Cup last four, Monday’s performance was just what the Bridge would have wanted to see to build momentum for the season run-in.

Nicolas Jackson was also on the scoresheet for the Blues; and the despite some friction over who took the second half penalty, Palmer netted for the ninth successive time — keeping his 100 percent spot-kick record intact in the league.

In the dying embers there would be an unforgettable moment for 20-year-old Alfie Gilchrist, who netted his first goal for the club to cap off the 6-0 rout.
