Following the untimely death of his close friend Riky Rick, DJ Speedsta has announced that he is leaving Metro FM after five years at the SABC station.
The Hip Hop DJ, artist and radio presenter who joined Metro FM line-up in 2017 from YFM, said he has sacrificed a lot to make his radio career at the station what it is today.
The DJ bought himself out of his contract at YFM to join presenters Loot-Love and DJ Jaws on the four hour-long Absolute Hip Hop show in 2017.
“I sacrificed my Saturday nights, sacrificed my gigs, missed plenty of weddings, plenty of Saturday nights, Missed a lot of time with people who care for me,” said Speedsta.
“I told the lord there is no way I am doing that any longer and here we are,” he added.
The “Mayo” hitmaker, who also served as a TV presenter at the Vuzu channel on DStv while at YFM, also thanked the radio station which got his voice on the larger scale.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Metro for believing in me and for all the moments. I have tears in my eyes as I type this,” wrote Speedsta on his Instagram account on Monday.
Loot-Love who left the station in 2020 and DJ Jawz, who is still with the radio station doing the same show, congratulated Speedsta for his bravery.
“Proud of you! To the TOP Speedy,” commented Loot-Love on the post.
“Keep it real my Y.O.G recoup and come back stronger,” added DJ Jawz.
