City beat Fulham plus a thriller in Leeds on Premier League Saturday

By Razeen Gutta

Erling Haaland was back in the team and back on the scoresheet as Manchester City beat Fulham 2-1 at the Etihad while Leeds United edged a seven goal thriller over Bournemouth at Elland Road.

The goal rush stayed true to its name with 19 goals across the four afternoon kick offs before Leicester beat Everton 2-0 in the late game on Merseyside.

Haaland made the bench upon his return from injury with Julian Alvarez starting up front for Pep Guardiola’s side. The Argentine scored early on from an Ilkay Gundogan assist to put the Cityzens in front.

Andreas Pereira made it 1-1 with a penalty on the half hour mark and just when Fulham looked to be taking something home, Haaland scored a penalty of his own deep in second half stoppage time.

The win puts City back on top with Arsenal a point off them ahead of their derby against Chelsea on Sunday.

Elsewhere, another late winner from Crysencio Summerville helped Leeds to all three points at Elland Road, with the 4-3 win now putting them four points clear of the relegation zone.

Phillip Billing and Dominic Solanke helped Bournemouth come back from behind to take the lead after Rodrigo scored an early spot kick.

Sam Greenwood and Liam Cooper levelled matters for the hosts before Jesse Marsch’s side claimed the win in the 84th minute.

Nottingham Forest and Brentford drew 2-2 while Wolves were defeated 3-2 by Brighton courtesy of a late Pascal Groß winner.

Harvey Barnes and Youri Tielemans got Leicester their fourth win of the season, putting them level on points with Frank Lampard’s Everton.

Sunday’s five games feature Liverpool’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur as well as Aston Villa vs Manchester United alongside the London derby at Stamford Bridge.
