The Braai Show saga has taken a dramatic turn, and not in hip-hop artist AKA’s favour.
Cake Media has demanded that AKA retract the statement he made last week and issue an apology for the damage he has done to the show’s image. They have given him until 1pm on Monday to do so.
Last week, AKA, whose real name is Keirnan Forbes, sent a “notice letter of entitlement to copyrights” to Cake Media and SABC demanding that they pull the plug on The Braai Show with Cass.
AKA wrote the letter in response to being replaced as the host for season two of The Braai Show. He threatened to file for interim relief if his demands were not met following the announcement that Cassper Nyovest was set to be the new host of The Braai Show with Cass by SABC.
AKA argued that, as he owned 50% of the rights to the show, Cake Media couldn’t replace him as the host.
In response, Cake Media maintains that AKA does not in fact own half of the rights, and that they are owned by MakhuduCom, who previously worked with AKA TV app.
AKA has yet to respond to Cake Media’s statement.
The Braai Show with Cass, previously The Braai Show with AKA, is expected to air on Wednesday 8 September 2021 on SABC 1.
