British corgis pine for the Queen

Several corgi owners around the United Kingdom believe their pets have not been the same since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

Owners of the small breed of dog took to social media to explain how their beloved corgis have been acting differently since their Queen passed almost two weeks ago.

The dogs are said to have become a lot more affectionate and craved a lot more attention with several owners claiming the dogs are lying on their laps more, the Daily Record reported.

“Mine are upset about the Queen’s passing but excited about the new Prince and Princess of Wales,” said one member of a corgi owner group on Facebook.

“Also we’re very relieved that the Yorks are looking after the Queen’s corgis as we were going to offer. It’s confusing for all corgis, it’s difficult enough for them having to understand English rather than Welsh leaving them confused. Mourning doesn’t even mean breakfast time.”

Another owner suggested speaking to their corgi in Welsh in the hope of “avoiding confusion” with the dog regarding the words morning and mourning.

While hundreds of people shared and understood the sentiments put forward by the corgi owners not everyone was convinced.

“Oh my days. Are there really people like this in the world?” one Facebook user wrote.

While another said: “Everyone’s lost the plot.”

Britain’s Queen was renowned for owning corgis, apparently having over 30 of the breed during her seven decades at the helm.

Queen Elizabeth II was survived by four of her dogs – two corgis, a dachshund and a cocker spaniel.

The two corgis are said to be looked after by Prince Andrew and his daughter Princess Beatrice.
