Mark Zuckerberg has stated that Elon Musk “isn’t serious” about their proposed cage fight and said, “it’s time to move on.”
The dispute over the potential brawl between the tech billionaires has been ongoing, with Musk suggesting on his messaging platform X (previously known as Twitter) that he was willing to fight as early as Monday.
Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, revealed in a social media post on his platform Threads that he had offered Musk a fixed date for the fight but claimed that Musk had made excuses.
Despite the heated exchange of words, a concrete date for the fight has not been confirmed, casting doubt on whether the event will actually take place, BBC reported.
The rivalry escalated with the launch of Threads in July, which attracted over 100 million sign-ups within a week. Musk’s X platform, however, still maintains its lead with around 350 million users.
A legal conflict has also emerged, with Musk threatening to sue Facebook (Meta) for “unlawful misappropriation of Twitter’s trade secrets”.
Zuckerberg’s latest post on Threads indicated frustration with Musk’s lack of commitment.
“Elon won’t confirm a date. Then he said he needed surgery, and now asks to do a practice round in my backyard instead,” said Zuckerberg.
“If Elon ever gets serious about a real date and an official event he knows how to reach me. Otherwise, time to move on. I’m going to focus on competing with people who take the sport
seriously.”
In response, Musk labelled Zuckerberg a “chicken” on X and posted a text message exchange between them.
