Media personality and businesswoman Ayanda Ncwane is excited to be kicking off the new year on a high note.
The widow of the late multiple award-winning gospel sensation Sifiso Ncwane has scored a gig as a co-host of the 4th Africa Choice Awards in Nigeria.
The glamorous event is scheduled for the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island. The dress code is African Royalty.
The awards recognise outstanding achievements in the entertainment, fashion and creative industry.
Speaking to Scrolla.Africa before boarding a plane on Thursday, an excited Ayanda said: “God is great as I have made history by being the first local to be tasked with hosting the show. Quite frankly, I didn’t expect this gig, but then it goes to show my hard work is paying off.
“I have been told that I will host these prestigious awards alongside Eddie Watson, who is a well-known actor from Ghana. I have goose bumps heading to Nigeria but I believe I will pull it off and make my country proud.”
She won’t be short of company in Nigeria as the likes of veteran actress and businesswoman Connie Ferguson, sportscaster Andile Ncube, socialite Boity Thulo, multi-talented Thembi Seete and The Queen acting duo of Zinande Mfenyane and Loyiso McDonald are expected to grace the event.
Also expected at the event is fashion stylist Phupho Gumede, who will present a special award on the day. Both Thulo and Shawn Mkhize are nominated for Best Female Entrepreneur of 2022 while Seete has been nominated for Female Movie Star of 2022.
Ncube, who works for the SABC sports department, has been nominated for both the Special Star and the On Air Personality awards. Ferguson is in the running for the Female TV Star of 2022 award while McDonald is contesting for the Next Rated Male Movie Star of 2022.
