- WorkFlick launched in South Africa in September 2025, letting job seekers and employers swipe right to match and chat directly.
- Users complain that WorkFlick charges R149.99 a month and locks most features behind a paywall, even for individual job seekers.
WorkFlick is a new recruitment app based in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, that works like Tinder. Job seekers and employers swipe right to show interest and left to skip. When both sides swipe right, they match and can then chat or book an interview directly through the app.
The app launched in South Africa in September 2025. A local company called Social Revolution designed how the app looks and works. The idea behind it is to cut out middlemen, get rid of long application forms and make hiring feel faster and more human.
“WorkFlick is a bold recruitment platform designed to flip the traditional hiring model on its head,” Social Revolution said, MyBroadband reported.
Users can upload a short video profile to show off their personality, rather than just a CV. Employers also get a desktop dashboard to manage job ads, review candidates and schedule interviews.
Since launching, WorkFlick has picked up more than 1,000 downloads on the Google Play Store. But the app holds a 2.4 out of five star rating there, based on five reviews. Most complaints are about its paywall.
“Requires a paid subscription to do anything as an individual, including searching,” one reviewer said.
“You pretty much can’t do anything without a premium subscription, which is somewhat valid, but a free trial would be nice,” another said.
A monthly plan costs R149.99. A six-month plan costs R359.99 and an annual plan is R599.99.
The app also charges R149.99 for virtual interviews, even though its own description promises “no middlemen, no fees”.
