Zulu Queen inspires many with her PhD studies

The wife of the late Zulu King Zwelithini KaBhekuzulu has decided to further her studies by doing a PHD in Business Studies with the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

The further education of Queen Thandi maNdlovu of the kwaLinduzulu Royal Palace was revealed in her profile that was read during a prayer service organised by Queen Nomzamo, the wife of King Misuzulu KaZwelithini, in Jozini.

Queen MaNdlovu was the fourth wife of the late King Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu.

It was also revealed that she was a nurse for over 19 years and a deputy director at the Department of Health in KZN.

Queen MaNdlovu graduated with a Master’s Degree in Business at Mancosa College in 2018, an achievement which was celebrated by her husband and royal family members.

She has one child, Princess Mukelile, who is involved in community development.

Other wives of the late Zulu King are also involved in community activities.

Queen Nompumelelo kaMchiza of the eNyokeni Royal Palace is a teacher. She has been praised for helping school kids with fees and uniformsl.

Queen Sibongile maDlamini of the kwaKhethomthandayo Royal Palace is helping women in the agricultural sector and gives food to the community of Nhlophenkulu in Nongoma.

Queen Buhle kaMathe of kwaDlamahlahla Royal Palace is a shy person who is very reserved. She is praised for her role in looking after the graves of the Zulu kings.

The late Queen Regent Mantfombi kaSobhuza was a champion of women’s development.

She started several organisations, including Umkhosi weSivivane, to help rural women help themselves.

The initiative has attracted urban women from different sectors, which include business and education. Queen Zesiliwe LaMafu of the Ondini Royal Palace has joined the initiative that was started by the late Queen Regent.
