King Misuzulu kaZwelithini wants his coronation to coincide with the annual King Shaka celebration in September.
Scrolla.Africa has learned that the king wrote to President Cyril Ramaphosa suggesting that he would like to be crowned on the day which coincides with umkhosi weLembe (King Shaka celebration).
A source close to the Royal Court revealed that Ramaphosa met the king recently where he asked about his coronation date since it was postponed to mourn the flood victims in April.
He said 13 August was proposed but the king suggested 23 September date which is the day before the annual commemoration of the founder of the Zulu nation King Shaka takes place every September in KwaDukuza where his grave is.
However, the king is still fighting for the throne at the North Gauteng High Court where his rebel uncle Prince Mbonisi of eKhwezi is trying to block the coronation.
The Traditional Prime Minister to the Monarch Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has also filed the response papers against Prince Mbonisi.
Royal family spokesperson Prince Thulani of eGazini told Scrolla.Africa that he can’t confirm the coronation date because the only person to announce the date is the prime minister.
“But a family meeting will be held in ULundi on Friday. This is where we might get the announcement of the coronation date after the meeting,” said Prince Thulani.
King Misuzulu has already done the cleansing ceremony of the late King Zwelithini
KaBhekuzulu’s weapons including the hunting of the leopard which was done at a private game reserve in June.
That ceremony was followed by the one that was done by the royal rebels faction who do not want King Misuzulu to ascend to the throne but instead they want Prince Simakade kaZwelithini who is the adopted son of King Misuzulu’s mother Queen Mantfombi kaSobhuza.
