King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has slammed divisive social media attacks which claim the Zulu nation is chasing out other African people during protests against illegal immigrants, writes Celani Sikhakhane in Royals Mzansi.
King Misuzulu kaZwelithini is blasting social media attacks against him and the Zulu nation. The attacks claim that Zulu people are chasing out other Africans and harassing other South Africans.
The social media posts specifically claim that Zulu people are targeting the Tsonga people from Limpopo. King Misuzulu says these claims are racially targeting him and his nation in a divisive way.
Speaking through his spokesperson, Prince Thulani Zulu of the eZibindini Royal House, the King says protests against illegal immigrants are happening across the country. Prince Thulani says these protests happen in all nine provinces where there are other kingdoms.
“Let it be clear, the people of South Africa are exercising and practising their constitutional rights to voice their concerns about matters that are affecting their communities including safety and livelihood,” Prince Thulani said.
Prince Thulani said the marches happen in all nine provinces and in all 11 official languages. He said they involve all citizens and traditional communities.
“Every nation has its own King and leadership. To deliberately single out the Zulu King and his nation is the racial target of the highest order,” Prince Thulani said.
He said those who are fighting the King should ask why the same questions are not being asked to the president and the nine provincial premiers.
The issue of illegal immigrants has caused divisions in South Africa. Some people believe that organisations like March and March have no right to chase out illegal immigrants. They say this work belongs to the police and government departments.
But some communities still live together peacefully with illegal immigrants. People in uMhlabuyalingana near the Mozambican border in KwaZulu-Natal coexist peacefully because they take part in community development together.
