Despite rumours of being unfit both financially and in health, Zola 7 still has pockets deep enough to donate 5,000 pairs of shoes to underprivileged school kids in rural KwaZulu Natal rural villages. saying “winter is coming”.

Zola 7,  whose real name is Bonginkosi Dlamini, encouraged his fans on Facebook livestream to join him in donating shoes to learners who walk for hours from their rural villages in worn out shoes just to get an education.

“I was speaking with an MEC who called me while I was sleeping here sick. She told me that in KZN there’s a Bata Shoes company. She’s willing to give a whole lot of them for free,” said the concerned Zola, who remains bed bound after falling sick.

“If I can get … about 5,000 [pairs of shoes], but I will have to get up from this bed first. Winter is coming.”

Zola 7 likened learners’ current situation with his own childhood.

“These kids are reliving my 1986 while I was still in KZN.”

Sisanda Qwabe-Coutaud who has known Zola 7 for 17 years, revealed on the stream that she has opened a Go Fund Me campaign to raise money to pay for Zola 7’s own medical bills.

Last year, Zola 7 opened up about his epilepsy condition on MacG’s Podcast and Chill. He said the condition almost killed him when suffered from an epileptic fit whilst driving.

“The go fund will basically be looking after his day to day expenses and stuff, because he’s medical bills have gone very, very high,” said Sisanda who is the CEO of the Black Excellence Network.
