World news bites: Uganda jails two for TikTok posts insulting president

Uganda – Two men have been thrown into prison for allegedly insulting President Yoweri Museveni and his family on TikTok. David Ssengozi and Isaiah Ssekagiri were arrested for posts about the president, his wife Janet, and their son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. They face charges of hate speech and are now in Kigo prison. Recently, Uganda sentenced another man to six years in jail for similar TikTok posts.

USA – Actress Whoopi Goldberg received a special 69th birthday gift on The View: a giant cheese wheel with her face on it. “I like to be eaten from time to time,” she joked when co-host Sara Haines presented the Italian Parmigiano Reggiano cheese.

UK – US computer giant Apple faces a lawsuit for allegedly forcing iPhone users to use iCloud storage. Consumer group Which? claims that Apple makes it difficult for users to choose other storage options once they fill up their free 5GB. They estimate that around 40 million UK customers are affected.

Scotland – A Bonfire Night celebration led to the tragic death of a zoo panda. Roxie, a baby red panda at Edinburgh Zoo, choked on her vomit after becoming scared during a fireworks display. Zoo officials are now calling for a ban on the public sale of fireworks.
