Iran – A leaked document suggests that Iranian teenager, Nika Shakarami, who disappeared during an anti-regime protest in 2022, was sexually assaulted by one of three men from Iran’s security forces before she died. The government and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard have not responded to these allegations. A confidential report about a hearing by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) details the involvement of specific members and senior commanders in the assault and the cover-up of the truth in the case of Nika. According to the document, while Nika was handcuffed and restrained, she was molested by one of the three men.
USA – Vitel’homme Innocent, who appears on the FBI’s “Ten Most Wanted” list, is seen as both powerful and hospitable. Innocent claims he is liberating the country, offering food and engaging in discussions with visitors. CNN managed to negotiate a meeting with him in Haiti, where he leads the Kraze Baryé gang in a nationwide crisis of lawlessness. He is a key figure in Haiti’s gang landscape, supporting peace under specific, yet unclear conditions.
Kenya – At least 71 people have died and 110 were hospitalised after floods struck near Mai Mahiu in Nakuru County, Kenya. As confirmed by Governor Susan Kihika, the floods were worsened by a dam bursting. The region has been experiencing intense rains, leading to severe flash floods. Rescue operations are underway, with teams searching through mud and debris for survivors. Kihika has said that the death toll could still rise. Since March, the flooding has resulted in at least 103 fatalities and displaced thousands, according to government spokesperson Isaac Maigua Mwaura.
London – Prince Harry is set to return to the UK in May to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, a sports event he started. He will participate in a celebratory ceremony at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on 8 May as announced recently. His last visit home was in February, prompted by the news of his father, King Charles’s, cancer condition. During a later interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Harry expressed his appreciation for being able to see his father during that time.
